Party Of A Lifetime

Party of a lifetime.
“Hey Ameeelia!”, “what” she replied “I dug my finger in youuuure cake!” I announced, yet was ignored.
“Okay everyone let's play pass the parcel!” my sister excitedly announces, “Wait!” Grace states, “Where is Georgia!”.
Everyone glanced around the room and Georgia was nowhere to be seen. We organised ourselves so into a search party, my sister Amelia took all of her friends, because she knew our house and I sat on a chair seeing all the daily snapchat filters, YASSS RAINBOWNESS I think to myself.
I thought to myself “I'll go toilet”
After I unlocked the door I felt like showing some initiative
and went and found the group, we checked everywhere, even in the most hidden cupboards, expect for my parents room…, this was like a giant game of hide and seek!.
I decided to split from the group and check my room, and my sister’s room and my parent’s room, in the bathroom, in the bed, and around the corner and there she is, red eyes and sharply whispers “DON’T TELL ANYONE I’M HERE!. I trotted back to the room where the girls were playing pass the passel and said that Georgia was in my parents room and the party continued happily ever after, until Georgia ran off again.

Trip To Town
Week 1
Today our class went into the city, I was quite excited on the bus, I was sitting next to Leon and we were talking about what we could do at the Margaret Mahy park.
After we hopped off the bus and got in our groups, at the museum there was some weird and wacky paintings it was quite annoying because Enzo was acknowledging  how some people had their privates showing, and that was pretty much that part.
We went into another room, it had this weirdly bent thing with a circle around it and I wondered what it was supposed to be and some strange paintings to say the least.
After all that we walked over to the Margaret Mahy park, we ate lunch and then played a big game of Dracula, Liam and I found of a good hiding spot and then I had an idea for a better spot, it was a killer hiding spot!, we didn't get found until we had to go back. I wondered if our spot was out of bounds because the whole time I was concerned the whole time about if our spot was out of bounds.

Week 2
On Thursday our activity group did music with Mrs. McCabe.
Mrs. McCabe went through it with us and then we split into groups, my group consisted of Romae, Margo and Jackson, I played the bongos, Jackson played the drums, Romae played some maracas and I don't remember what Margo played but I'm pretty sure it was her a aggressively hitting milo containers, honestly our song didn't sound too good, it sounded like bashing drums and loud unpleasant sounds, but that was because we only practiced once.
When we were listening to the other groups it seemed like they were a lot more co-ordinated and had better ideas for instruments like scraping rulers on the milo tins and better ideas than 3 drums.
I wonder if it would have been better if we practiced for longer.

Week 3
This Thursday our group was doing drama with Danielle, first we were on the field and reenacting some drama sort of things like 1960’s dancing and robots, but some people weren't taking it seriously so Danielle said that we were preform in front of He Tangata, we had not even finished doing all of the acts?
I found it kind of funny and hid behind Sharnika (because she is taller than me), I think some people like Liam found it kind of humiliating, I wonder what He Tangata thought of us, but I hope they had a good laugh.
After that we headed inside and acted plays, I was in a group with Josh,Edward,Thomas. A, and I had to act a play of a bank robbery in slow motion, singing or 2X speed, we sung it, I was the robber who was wearing a dress, I thought it was really fun. The play went like I went to get some money, pulled a gun on the bank lady, took the money and go tackled by the police.
Calendar Art
Week 4
Calendar Art *Breathes  in* has not been easy for me to say the least.
Day one I thought that I was doing a collage-silhouette, then I didn't like that idea so I decided to make a 2018 collage.
The first one was TERRIBLE, it looked like the fruit loops pelican too massive poo on a piece of paper, you couldn't see the 2018 and it was just freestyle.
That afternoon Danielle gave me a look and asked me what I thought, shortly after I decided to start again.
What was different about this one was that I used PVA instead of glue so it stuck better, also I colour coordinated it and it looked better, a lot better.
I wonder what would have happened if I just kept my old one and if my parents would have brought it?.

Fly On The Wall In The ESOL Room*
Today Thomas. R, Edward and I went to be a fly on the wall in the ESOL room and were trying to figure out the heart of Waimairi School.
The first room we observed was the year 5 and 6’s with Nicki but that was quite hard to tell what they do in that ESOL room because they were playing Uno as it was Matthew’s birthday, the next room was not the same.
In the other room they were making a collage of some sort of collage to go with their personality and they were talking about what it was like in their old countries, there was Mikayla from Ara Atu and she said that she would move back if she could. Then there was Seo Hyun’s brother and he said that he was very young when he lived in Korea and didn't get to start school, the last person was Daina in harakeke and she said she likes it in New Zealand but doesn't want to move to Korea because she has never been to Korea and because of the Korean War.

Sculpture Plan
Minion Piggy Bank
Leon: A jar.
Oliver:Milk bottle top and 2 Popsicle sticks.
Sam:Yogurt pottle
School:Spray paint, blue fabric and paper

There will be a hat to put your money in

Spray paint jar yellow
Cut out hole in lid
Spray paint yogurt pottle black and hot glue on top
Draw eye on paper, hot glue on
Cut fabric to size and glue on, if there is no blue fabric we will spray paint it

I will try to work on thinking in case if something breaks and if I need to keep constantly fixing something as this has happened In the past.

Money Shot
This is my Money Shot.
I believe that this captures the heart of Waimairi because it shows examples of working in
groups (interacting with each other), teamwork and building relationships.

They were talking about what it was like in their home countries and if they would like to go back while also making some sort of mosaic, which in a way is multi tasking and being able to multitask well is a very valuable skill in life.

I also believe the E.S.O.L room is one of the valuable rooms to the school because it helps people to . understand English, so you can do work and just enjoy school and New Zealand in general!

Have you ever really really really regretted going on a roller coaster?
Today I am going to tell you about an exciting experience I have had at Disneyland.

I was quite reluctant to go on this ride because the little mermaid isn't really up my alley, but mum managed to convince me and we hopped in the queue.

As soon as we finished waiting in the line a man dressed in a suit greeted us with a smile and my dad and I hopped in the clamshell and pulled down the lap bar.
Without notice the ride turned around and started slowly spiraling down backwards.

Some suspiciously peaceful music started playing, it made me feel like I was being lured into something.
When we reached the bottom we turned around and the clamshell slowly drove around, there were dancing crabs and singing lobsters and anything you could imagine on a Disney princess ride, it was incredibly happy.

Then the ride started slowing down, and after a few seconds it slowed down to a complete stop, “Dun Dun Dunnn!” I don't think that anyone knew what was happening, I whispered to my dad “are we stuck?” he replied with a simple yes, “I think so”.
Soon after a strangely enthusiastic voice came through the speakers “There has been a small issue and the ride has stopped, make sure to stay in your clamshell!”, the music continued and the crabs and lobsters kept singing and dancing for what seemed like an eternity, nothing had happened, babies were crying, people were distressed and everyone had heard the same song at least 50 trillion times, the strange voice came back “The ride has started back up, enjoy your ride!”.

I wiped a sweat off my forehead as the ride started up again, we went through into another room, it had the fat octopus lady's head squished up into a ball and probably talking about how BeyoncĂ© is the REAL queen and how starbucks is overpriced, we continued slowly moving through to some area with a projector showing  Ariel and the prince having some mushy romance scene, as we drove past that I crossed my fingers hoping that it wouldn't stop then, the ride stopped, my brain was like a pot of boiling water, I was so mad to get stuck on this part, in my head I was swearing like a sailor, and it turned out it there was no reason to stress and we stopped only so we could briefly admire it, (at a safe distance).

Soon after we drove up to where to we started and I gave I sigh of relief as we hopped off, “Do we have to go on the   Feeerissss wheel?”, little did I know that Ferris wheel would be the thrill of my life, but that is a story for another time.

Sculpture Reflection

This term’s focus is art, our class has been making sculpture’s, Leon,Sam and I made a minion piggy bank.

Originally just Leon and I here going to make a fish with a photo album in it, then Sam joined, after we realised when we didn't have any on the stuff,so we changed our activity.

Then after we decided to make Reinhardt’s hammer, this idea didn't last long as soon after we realised it was going to be waaay to hard with the time and a little silly/childish , then we changed to make a minion piggy bank.

First day Leon and I brought our materials, Sam was away so we had to improvise, he was bringing a yoghurt pottle, then we made one out of cardboard.
After we cut a hole into the lid so you could put your coins in.

The second day in the morning we painted our minion yellow, the day went on and at lunch Leon did a second coat of yellow.

The next day we painted his pants, made an eye and tried to glue on it, didn't work.

The day after I couldn't glue the eye on because the gun wasn't getting hot enough, then after searching for a hot glue gun we glued on the eye strap thingy, glued on the eye and finished!

What went well was that on our day that we finished Leon wasn't there so Sam and I had to finish it on our own and Leon was happy and that surprised me happily because Leon can be hard to please sometimes.

Next time I would change by making a do not touch sign or use a different material than hot glue because the hot glue kept bio-degrading or being picked off.

Science Blog

Science blog 13/6/17
This week for science Sean and I tested how far we could shoot cotton balls out of our catapult, this was my first science activity so Sean and I had to make a catapult.
Today I learnt that cotton balls distance escalates heavily when you add rubber bands, because when we fired it without any rubber bands the cotton ball went 1m83 and then when we added rubber bands it went 4m33, 6m81 and even further.
Today I wondered what would have happened if we thought more about our catapult and made it more advanced because Sean and I saw Sam and Sanjive’s catapult was firing cotton balls up to 12 meters.

Science blog 14/6/17
Today at science we were with Vanessa, and we were making mini golf courses and pulleys, I was at reading most of the time, but my group got about 10-15 minutes to make and use a mini golf course, Leon,Liam,Hamish,Cooper and I made the mini golf course out of some wood that we found, pens pencils and books to stop it falling off
Today I learnt that instant karma is real because Liam kept trying to make it up the ramp it took him a while to make it up because the ping pong ball kept falling off the ramp, but when I did it after him the same thing kept happening for about a minute!
Today I wondered how much easier it would have been if we had real mini golf clubs and golf balls, because we were using hockey sticks and meter rulers, and those were hard to use because the meter rulers were really hard to hit with because they were so thin and the hockey sticks were too long and kept knocking things over, because golf balls are heavier and golf clubs are not as wide.

Science Catapult Week 8
What Is Force?
Force is a way of movement ie (push and pull) for an push example when you let a balloon filled with helium go while you are outside and the helium in the balloon makes it go a up and up and up until it runs out of helium.
For a pull example one is when you are playing tug of war with two groups of people and both groups is pulling as hard as they can and making tension, that is force.
Force can also make something change shape for an example, if you hit a glass bottle with a hammer the glass will fly everywhere, therefore it changed shape.
Gravity is probably the strongest force, Gravity keeps the earth down and stops you, all of your belongings and everything on earth from flying into space.

This week at science Sean and I completed filling out data for our catapult, I found it averagely easy because this was my second time with the catapults and I was used to doing this, that part was easy, but after we had to make a graph showing the data we gathered and I feel like I really struggled on that, because I didn't understand it.

What I changed: I changed my mindset because when we were testing the 3 cotton balls I said that we couldn't do no rubber bands because they would just fly everywhere but at the end when I was taking the rubber bands off I decided to do fire the 3 cotton balls without rubber bands.

What I learnt: I learnt that the distances can vary from however rubber bands because, you would normally think that the distances would be longer but that is not true.

What I wondered: I wondered what would have happened if we used more cotton balls like 5 or 8 cotton balls and if they would go further, shorter or a similar distance?

Science Plan For Project
What am I making?: A mini back garden
Who I am working with?: Jackson
What do I need?:
Tramp: Black ribbon, popsicle sticks
Hammock: ribbon/fabric, 2 toilet rolls, popsicle sticks, brown paper, green plastic bag/green paper
Slide: Popsicle sticks, paper
Jungle gym: Popsicle sticks
How do my play objects use force?:
Tramp: when you jump up and down you push yourself up and down and accelerate when you go down
Hammock: when you push the hammock and it also accelerates
Slide: the gravity pulls you down and you accelerate down
Jungle gym: you pull yourself forward and up

Science week 9/10
What are you designing?: Jackson and I are designing a model backyard because we thought it would be unique because everyone else was making a playground

What is working well?: Leon left Jackson and I and that is a good thing because cracks on and I will get to do more because Leon was doing most of the work

What struggles are you encountering?:Leon leaving because even though that worked well if there is anything tricky Jackson and I will likely mess up on it or struggle a lot

What improvements are going to make?: We will need to put a need on the trampoline because it does not necessarily resemble a trampoline

What is your next step?: putting the net on our tramp and making the jungle gym

Here is a photo of our finished project:
Conclusion: over the past week Jackson and I have been crafting our miniature backyard with a trampoline,a jungle gym, a slide which goes into our pool, a pool with a diving board and a hammock

I am cosy, filled with fluff. Once brand new and tunnel black, but now I am just dirty and scratched.
Let me tell you a bit about myself.
Dedicated for winter, made to keep you warm, I am filled with feathers, comforting, just what everyone needs.
Once I was sitting in a box in some noisy factory and then journeyed on a plane into a macpac store somewhere in the North Island.
I sat on a coat hanger for months, but finally someone picked me!, not any other one but me! and from then on my journey began.
John, he took me to his job every day, in the snow or in the rain he took me to his job, it was a nice place, it had warm heaters and cold air conditioning units.
I was well-loved and comforted in the accommodation of his wardrobe...
Fast forward a couple years, my outside was getting dirty, he tried to clean me, but the stains were too soaked in and it seemed John had brought something to replace me, I felt like I was unloved and useless.
At this point I had no use, I was just sitting in his wardrobe on a coathanger.
One day out of the blue he took me to a charity shop, and someone put me here on a bent coathanger, unwanted, unneeded, and I guess here the cycle starts again.

I am the colour of the crashing waves and the splash in the dark blue  sea, the colour of a juicy blueberry, that cobalt painted wall. A baby blue sapphire on a shining gold ring
